NOTC STAFF

Sarah Illingworth, MA, Executive Director
sarah@newoutlookteencenter.org
Formerly a “Jersey girl”, Sarah moved from the Garden State to Maine when she was 12. After completing high school in York, ME, Sarah ended up at Tufts University, where she graduated with a B.A. in International Relations. One thing led to another and Sarah found herself living in Guinea, West Africa, where she worked with an organization to improve the quality of primary school education. After almost a year in Guinea, Sarah was hooked on travel and in love with Africa. Since then, her work and travels have brought her to South Africa, Cameroon, Uganda, and most recently, Ghana, where she worked as the in-country coordinator for a youth volunteer program. In 2003, Sarah earned a Masters degree in International Educational Development from Columbia University. Sarah is thrilled to be the E.D. for New Outlook and feels she has found her niche. She is deeply committed to working with youth and to building community networks that support youth services. Sarah’s favorite things about NOTC include: the laid back, friendly vibe, the unique skills, talents, and personalities of participating teens, the amazing, hard-working staff, and the fantastic kitchen- a great place to hang out, eat good food, and catch up.

lisa@newoutlookteencenter.org
Lisa is originally from upstate New York but mostly grew up in Goffstown, NH. Lisa attended the University of New Hampshire where her studies focused on adolescent development and gender issues. While at UNH she gained valuable experience as a rape crisis intervention counselor. Upon graduating from the University of New Hampshire in 2000, Lisa moved to Nantucket Island where she spent the next five years running a small gardening business and going to the beach! During the quiet winters Lisa traveled extensively in parts of Central and South America including Belize, Guatemala, and Ecuador. Her favorite souvenir from her travels is her dog, Maya, who she rescued from the jungle near a small Mayan Indian village in Belize. Lisa moved back to NH in 2005 to attend graduate school at UNH. Lisa will earn her MS in Adolescent Development in a few short months as she finalizes her Master's research. Some of her previous work experience includes street outreach with homeless teens, parent workshop facilitation, and research with the UNH Center on Adolescence.
