New Outlook strives to increase the cultural awareness of its youth population by providing opportunities to interact with youth and volunteers from other cultures. Past activities have included Nigerian sand painting with a visiting artist, Vietnamese fashion and dance, a workshop on Russian nesting dolls, and a cooking demonstration featuring traditional Indian cuisine.  During the last two years, we have worked closely with the Friends Forever International Peace Program (www.friendsforeverusa.org) an organization which offers programming to youth from regions of conflict across the globe. With Friends Forever youth, NOTC teens collaborated on a “Mural of Peace” with a group of Protestant and Catholic youth from Northern Ireland and enjoyed an evening of cooking and Karaoke with Arab and Jewish youth visiting from Jerusalem, Israel.
