Groundbreakers

Groundbreakers is New Outlook’s gardening and environmental education program, the goal of which is to educate participants about organic gardening, environmental protection, and community service.

With the help of United Way, Timberland, Newmarket International and many community volunteers, New Outlook now has a backyard space dedicated to recreation, education, and gardening.   Teens participating in Groundbreakers have the opportunity to plan garden beds and plant flowers and organic vegetables. 

Through growing, harvesting and cooking with their own crops, we hope that this project will help the teens feel a greater connection to their environment. In addition, it is intended that a portion of future harvests will be donated to local community members as a way of helping to build relationships between teens and their community.
